Author Guidelines

AJ-RED invites original submissions from researchers, defense professionals, security policy analysts, and civilian industry practitioners. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of the journal. Those considered a good fit will be sent for double-blind peer review before a final acceptance or rejection decision is made.
Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as figures, datasets, or third-party content. All authors identified on the submission must consent to being listed as an author. Where applicable, research must be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study’s country. Manuscripts must not contain any classified or restricted information.
An editor may desk reject a submission that does not meet the journal’s minimum quality standards or falls outside its scope. Before submitting, ensure that the research argument is clearly structured, the title is concise, and the abstract is self-contained. Please review the journal’s Focus and Scope, Publication Ethics, and Author Guidelines pages before proceeding.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements before proceeding.
• The submission has not been previously published, nor is it currently under consideration at another journal.
• The manuscript complies with the formatting requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines (Times New Roman 12pt, 1.5 line spacing, APA 7th Edition citations).
• The submission falls within the aims and scope of AJ-RED as described on the Focus and Scope page.
• All references have been checked for accuracy, completeness, and include a DOI where available.
• All tables and figures are numbered sequentially, labeled with captions, and meet the minimum 300 DPI resolution requirement.
• Permission has been obtained to publish all third-party material included in the submission (figures, datasets, documents).
• Any use of AI tools in the preparation of the manuscript has been disclosed within the submission.
• The manuscript does not contain any classified, restricted, or export-controlled information.
• All authors have consented to the submission and agree to the journal’s Publication Ethics policy.
• The corresponding author has read and accepts the Article Processing Charges applicable upon acceptance.

By submitting to AJ-RED, authors confirm that the manuscript is their own original work, has not been previously published, and is not currently under consideration at another journal.

Upon acceptance, the article will be published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). Under this license, authors retain copyright of their work while granting AJ-RED the right of first publication. Third parties may freely share, use, and adapt the published work, provided appropriate credit is given and the original publication in AJ-RED is clearly cited.

Authors may deposit their accepted manuscript in institutional repositories or personal websites, provided the bibliographic details, DOI, and AJ-RED as the original publisher are indicated.
By completing this submission, the corresponding author confirms that all co-authors have consented to the submission and agree to the terms outlined above.
